My Ultimate Bedfordshire Wedding Planning Guide

Updated: Jun 29, 2020

As I've recently planned my own wedding and have a lot of experience within this field of expertise I thought it might be helpful to you for me to compile a complete wedding planning check list for you to use together with some useful links to some favourite local suppliers in the Bedfordshire UK area.

Venue's -

Bellows Mill is a wonderful venue if you want to create your own unique wedding that feels like you rather than having everything decided for you. It's

a true blank canvas and Rachel together with her her associate Elaine are absolutely lovely and so, so helpful. This is a truly great choice is you want really put your own stamp on your day, think afternoon tea's, hog roasts, vintage food and ice cream van's, camp fire, festival vibe wedding.

Here are some of my other favourite local venues.

South Farm

Enchanted Woodland Weddings

Crockwell Farm

Shendish Manor - Hemel

Ashridge House - Hemel

Luton Hoo Hotel - Luton

Dress - please take a look at my pinterest board for some inspiration. For a lovely local bridal shop I would recommend Halo & Wren in Hemel Hempstead. Jemma founded Halo & Wren when she couldn't find the dress she saw online in reality. "yes those pinterest dresses can be found and yes some are in London at those 'big' stores but they can also be found in Old Town, Hemel Hempstead.

I also have an inspiration highlights section on my Instagram.

Photographer - Instagram can be a wonderful place to search for wedding photographer local to your area, try searching hashtags such as #Bedfordshireweddingphotographer etc.

You can talk to local venues and ask them for their list of recommended suppliers.

When deciding on a photographer its a good idea to see a whole wedding gallery rather than just a select few photos and also if you can meet with them or at least have a chat on the phone I would really suggest doing so. You want to know that they will put you at ease on your wedding day as you will spend a fair amount of time with them.

Florist - Flowers at Fifty Eight grow their own flowers and for that reason I love them for being sustainable, local & seasonal. If like me you like your bouquets to be beautiful, wild seasonal and modern then get in touch with Becky and her mum.

If you fancy having a go at your own flowers then Boho Flowers based in Wheathampstead provide flowers by the bucket for DIY weddings and can also arrange them for you if you prefer. Again the flowers are all grown by Alison and Debbie at their own homes and so are sustainable, local and seasonal. They grow a wide variety of flowers you will not find in a supermarket or at a wholesaler.

Decor/Venue Styling - see my wedding decor pinterest board for some inspirational ideas here. Bedfordshire based award winning The White Emporium offers venue styling, creative directions and prop hire.

Cake Iced Delights in Bedford / The Cupcake Bar Ampthill

Invites/save the dates/Stationary

Catering - Ice Ice Baby vintage ice cream van.

Table & Chair Hire The White Emporium

Vintage crockery / cutlery / napkin hire

Shoes - Rachel Simpson, Charlotte Mills, Swedish Hasbeens are some of my favourite.

Veil / tiara / flower crown - Love From Becky (Becky also runs flowers and Fifty Eight with her mum) for beautiful flower crowns.

Hair & Make Up

Groom suit / shoes / cufflinks / tie

Bridesmaid dresses / shoes

Asos, Boohoo, Quizz, Ghost, Next, all have great bridesmaids sections

Groomsmen suits

DJ

Photo booth

Confetti - in my humble opinion you can never have too much of this and if you would like you photographer to capture an awesome confetti shot for you my advice would be not to scrimp here and that its definitely preferable to have too much than too little.
